To effectively mediate a dispute over resource allocation among site workers, follow these steps: Listen to All Parties: Give each worker or group a chance to explain their concerns without interruption. Understanding everyone's perspective is crucial for identifying the root cause of the conflict. Clarify the Issue: Summarize the key points to ensure everyone understands the problem Encourage Collaboration: Ask the workers for their input on potential solutions. Follow-Up: After the dispute is resolved, continue to monitor the situation to ensure the agreement is being honored and that the workers are satisfied with the outcome. Develop a Fair Plan: Propose or facilitate a solution that is equitable and realistic

I would always recommend meticulous attention for resources and planning is key for any Site activities. Breaking down the schedules at granular level and identifying needs of using them efficiently is the need of hour. We can't keep unlimited resources at Site. At the same time can't create abundance. Effective planning and hard follow up for adherence to it is the key. In a periodic manner, listen to the stake holders and get the forecast of possible conflict which are unavoidable as there will be 10-15% slippages of Plan-vs-Actual which are unavoidable. Just closing them on time will make sure smooth operation of Site activities without any grievances raised by Work-Force.

One thing I have found helpful in resolving disputes over resource allocation is revisiting the project schedule and contract terms. By clearly defining responsibilities and confirming priorities based on contractual obligations, it becomes easier to allocate resources effectively, minimizing conflicts. Actually, I disagree with the approach of merely finding common goals to resolve disputes. In construction projects, disputes often arise from misinterpretations of contract terms. Ensuring that all parties fully understand their obligations and rights as stated in the contract is the key to effective dispute resolution.
