It's likely you are not going deep enough with them. When you "coach" someone on the surface level or with tactics, it's unlikely to move the needle. Even feedback isn't always helpful if the client isn't self aware enough to know what their behaviors are and where they come from. You can hammer out dents in a car, but it won't make the car run any better. When I coach a leader, I coach the whole person. We dive deep into how their brain operates and what beliefs they carry about themselves & the world. This requires piecing together information from their family, their childhood, their past jobs, and their relationships. They do the piecing, but you need to be willing to take them there. This is true for any type of coaching.
