I use a simple but strict system. Every Monday, I map out my week's priorities across projects. Each project gets specific time blocks - no mixing tasks. I keep a master deadline calendar and flag conflicts early. When I'm deep in one project, I shut down notifications from others. I set hard boundaries: no more than three major projects at once. If something new comes up, something else has to give. I schedule buffer time for unexpected issues - there's always something. Most importantly, I track my energy levels. High-focus work happens in the morning, admin stuff in the afternoon. When I'm done for the day, I'm done - no checking emails at night. If deadlines start crashing into each other, I negotiate new timelines early.

Handling multiple research projects with tight deadlines requires a smart approach to stay productive without burning out. One effective strategy is to establish a clear plan for each project from the start, mapping out timelines and identifying any overlapping tasks so you can spot potential bottlenecks early. Rotating your focus among projects periodically can also prevent mental fatigue by keeping things fresh and allowing you to return to each task with a renewed perspective. Finally, setting boundaries around your work time, like designating certain hours for specific projects or allowing downtime in the evenings, helps maintain balance and energy.
