However, there is significant room for improvement in proactive measures such as proposing ideas to enhance the quality of technical support, and introducing new projects for monitoring and accounting.

I kid you not, experience is the best teacher. In an attempt to improve my technical support knowledge, i have always practically learned a lot over and over to educate myself about the evolving Technology ecosystem. Every now and again, i have also offered technical assistances to those in need and that has helped boost my learning and giving spirits.

Assess your Strength and Weakness Make a list of your strengths and a list of your weaknesses. Be honest with yourself and focus on areas where you excel, as well as areas where you struggle. By taking these steps to identify your strengths and weaknesses, you can gain a better understanding of your skills and abilities, and use that knowledge to make more informed decisions about your career and personal development opportunities.

Never overestimate your own abilities, knowledge of the system you work with will only get you so far! If your team are working on it to make changes, lean into them and advise, but don't assume you know the changes! Advise, do not direct! You guys know the the customer use-cases, Product have no idea!

Developer-level knowledge of programming languages is not required, but having an understanding of development processes and protocols is always useful and will enhance your understanding of the product.

You learn using these 3Es : - Experience: 70% of your learning from your daily operational activities your perform in your role - Exposure: 20% of your learning comes from stretch activities or goals, challenging tasks that are assigned to you - Education: 10% of it comes from learning through courses, vocational training, in-class education, etc. In technical support, it’s essential that you make the most of all of these learning avenues. The learning curve is steep based on variety of issues that you solve for customers. The challenges presented are new each day, hence the crucial step is to maintain balance between the 3Es to keep yourself ahead of the time. This approach is key to a personal and professional development.

Learn more than you need. Experience more than you should. Once you do that, you'll be less surprised (only less, because reality will always surprise you), and better prepared for the challenges that surely await you.

Be the curious one and make effort even when is not expected. Learning new things is a basic thing in a changing world, so this should be a second nature. This creates also good will and in a bad day will give you understanding and help from others.

Communicating the right solution to customers proves to be complex and sometimes difficult. Customers tend to love swift and cheap solutions and at times those are not the optimal solutions. Support personnel need to use communication skills and cost benefit analysis to convince customers that they need to do the Right thing, not the quick or the cheap thing, this helps customers on the long term.

This is a great complement to offering training sessions to end users, sales teams, or colleagues from other support lines. This skill adds value to your career growth and brings a fresh perspective to technical support.

Communication is so crucial when providing top support to your customers. However the first step in communicating is listening and understanding what the customer is having an issue with or trying to achieve with your product. If it’s an issue, being empathetic is key as it will help smooth out any tension with the customer. Paying customers are usually more emotionally geared when a product they’ve paid for is not working as intended. If they are trying to achieve a certain outcome with the product; providing a resolution promptly is key. Usually if the customer is asking for an outcome, it usually means they need it sooner rather than later! A prompt response helps build that rapport.

Communication is not only words. Try to get that. Attitude and personal relations are also communication. Show good will and interest talks more than thousand words.

To enhance the communication abilities of technicians, a practical approach we've implemented involves shifting a significant volume of requests from phone calls to online forms. This strategy not only allocates more time for managing incidents over the phone but also offers our team a valuable opportunity to refine their written communication skills. Engaging in written interactions, such as requesting additional details, updating customers on their request status, and offering guidance, is crucial. These aspects are equally, important as delivering direct solutiona. With good communication we maintain high service standards by demonstrating genuine interest and providing thoughtful guidance to our customers.

If tools that you need don't exist - build them. Don't wait for someone else to solve your problems, because why should they? Learn some basic scripting (php, Bash, PowerShell...), and create diagnostics and troubleshooting tools. You will benefit from it. Your Support colleagues will benefit from it, and so will your customers.

Essential quality besides being good listener and troubleshooter is to have patience. Things take time and even more time if the person on the other side is not speaking it′s native language, cannot explain the issue correctly or don′t even know what is wrong... It′s up to support to calmly guide and help the customer through and solve the issue and leave a happy person after the encounter.

I always strive to deepen my knowledge of the products I support, to understand the customer's journey and how to help them better. I like to go beyond the graphical interface, exploring the code and database structures, with the goal of showing the POs where the error is happening.
