1 What is SSO?

SSO simplifies accessing multiple systems bg allowing user ti use only single set of credentials. Once the user logs in with SSO, until the session is expired, the user can access all the applications as per the user's authorization policies. SSO reduces the pain of remembering multiple credentials for different applications. Federated SSO helps to authenticate cross domains which increases the productivity and user experience. Also reduces cost of implementing a new solution.

2 How does SSO work?

SSO works by using a central identity provider (IdP) that verifies your credentials and grants you access to the systems or applications that trust the IdP. The IdP can be a third-party service, such as Google or Facebook, or a custom-built system within an organization. When you sign in to one system or application, the IdP creates a session cookie that stores your authentication information. Then, when you try to access another system or application that trusts the IdP, the cookie is sent to the IdP, which confirms your identity and authorizes your access without asking for your credentials again.
