1 What is cloud network firewall?

In my opinion, cloud firewalls are no different from your normal on premises firewall when it comes to functionality. A cloud network firewall is vital for organizational security, controlling both inbound and outbound traffic based on predefined rules. It blocks unauthorized access, mitigates cyber threats like DDoS attacks, and segments the internal network into secure subnets, limiting internal threat spread. Firewalls enforce corporate policies, manage application use, and support VPNs for secure remote access. They also log network activity, providing insights for threat detection, and integrate with other security tools like IDS/IPS for enhanced protection.

Cloud firewall is an ideal solution for a group of operators: fully centralized managed solution allows to optimize the cost, to filter all group traffic, and to introduce some very specific precise rules. For instance, a cloud FW for the Group can be also used for the update of GT DB, introduction and follow-up of shared networks, support with missing exclusions (e.g. test IMSI's), etc. If you are a Group and you perform these activities via standalone FW, you know that usually it takes much more time, money, people resources and don’t give you same visibility as you can’t compare the cases.

You should implement a general ruleset across all your firewalls. So integrate your Cloud firewall into your on-premise firewall, together with a general ruleset these security devices will all behave the same, at the same level of security. I.e. avoid keyword any in the general ruleset.
