How do your staffing tools impact candidates?

If you have an application process that requires candidates to manually input everything from their resume, then it is time for a change. It's not laziness if candidates decide not to apply because of an inefficient process. Employers should view top-tier candidates as the prize and make it as easy as possible to get as many qualified candidates as they can. A good ATS will take in as much information in the simplest way possible and make it easy for the recruitment team to sort through it.

Recruitment tools can hone or improve a process if placed in the right hands. There are too many 'wrong' hands with the right tools! There is a saying "All the gear but no idea" and unfortunately this huge issue in the world of recruitment. Any profession that requires a level of empathy will only benefit from tools, gadgets, or AI to a finite point. We can use tools, analyse metrics, and generate data all day long but this cannot mask the issue that the core foundations and traits needed for recruitment; are empathy, curiosity, and integrity. If you provided the latest tools and technology to an inept builder, they'd just make a bigger mess, quicker.

An ATS, is just that. It's a system to store & track data, it's core competency. Hence, there are many tech stack platforms that integrate w/an ATS from "top of the funnel", "talent intelligence/matching" through "on-boarding" (has a bi-directional integration with an ATS & HRIS). I'm in corporate so deal with this often. Net/net, Recruiting is synonymous with Sales, you're just selling a different product. An ATS is relevant at the beginning of the process & to track although to effectively identify, qualify, sell & close talent requires human interaction with a sophisticated matching solution. Do Sales Reps rely on technology to identify prospects, build relationships, & close $1M+ deals? Think "Revenue/Employee".

Staffing assessment tools are instruments or processes designed to evaluate and measure the skills, abilities, knowledge, and suitability of candidates for specific job roles. These tools play a crucial role in the hiring process by providing objective and standardized information that helps employers make informed decisions about which candidates are the best fit for the organization.

As a recruiter, I’m not a big fan of assessments. Most times they are irrelevant to the actual role. It slows down recruiting efforts and is unattractive to most candidates seeking employment. At the same time, I understand the benefits to administering them.

A user-friendly and mobile-optimized ATS is very crucial in the recruitment process, I have lost a candidate it took weeks to source because he could not just get pass entering the captcha correctly. Since over 70% of applications are done via mobile. ATS needs to be mobile optimised to increase the conversion rate of qualified candidates viewing the job ad and actually submitting an application. Now that AI is employed to screen candidates, it important to balance experience and scalability. Quality candidates might be lost due to technical inefficiencies. And with my experience in volume and specialist recruitment, it is important to have a human feel to the recruitment process and make it less robotic.

We need to learn a lot on tools which we use to communicate especially phone calls. People training is required to one who start with staffing. It always leads a dead end communication where untrained person call out candidate. We must train how to initiate a call. Emailing is next to get trained well. I believe GPT is certainly helping those.

The main challenge in communication tools is not to lose the personal approach to each candidate. We all know that each of the candidates likes personally specified emails, but on the other hand, it takes a huge amount of time from the Recruitment specialist. For me, it is all about the balance. For the cold and first contact, where you ask just to join the network - we can use automated tools like LinkedIn Recruit, ... For the worm contact - a personal approach works the best.

Feedback is a valuable tool in various aspects of life, including personal growth, professional development, and organizational improvement. In the context of the workplace, feedback holds significant importance. But at same time this will bring -Ve impact too. Negative Impact on Morale, Emotional Impact and lot more.

I believe organizations should invest more in development tools. Even if candidates do not get an offer after the recruitment process, they can get opportunities to access some training, coaching and career guidance tools to help them improve on their skills. This not only improve employer branding but also appreciates the candidates effort going through the process and it says alot about the organization culture.
