Building trust means taking a seat at the table taking the time to understand the nuts and bolts of your client's business. Essentially as a consultant, you should not be viewed as an external stakeholder but rather an extension of the client's business. Trust and credibility go hand in hand and the more credibility you gain, the easier it becomes to build trust.

It goes beyond slogans, missions, and service lists, serving as a solid commitment to continually deliver distinctive and unshakeable value. You must comprehend your clients' demands, hear their concerns, and predict any future issues.

It shows that a client's needs are understood, differentiating your business from competitors. Which is essential when build a relationship with a client. Allowing them to be more forthcoming of their needs and willingness to consider your services.

Generally, as an employee you have a vested interest in the company as it pays your salary. As a consultant, it is important to adopt a mindset of accountability and to have a vested interest in the client's business as if you were an employee. This way, we are more inclined to adopt the mindset of "adding value" in everything we do.

Adopting an approach where the main aim is to add value and identifying key elements which set your service offering apart from your competitors is important.
