2 Create test cases in Jira

Once you have established a connection to Jira, you can create test cases in Jira from TestComplete. To do this, you need to map your TestComplete project items to Jira issue types. For example, you can map your test projects to test plans, your test items to test cycles, and your test cases to test cases. To create the mapping, go to Tools > Options > Jira Integration and select your connection. Then, click Edit Mapping and choose the corresponding issue types for each project item. You can also specify additional fields and values for the issues, such as priority, assignee, labels, etc.

After creating the mapping, you can create test cases in Jira by right-clicking any project item in TestComplete and selecting Create Jira Issue. This will open a dialog box where you can review and modify the issue details before creating it. You can also create multiple issues at once by selecting multiple project items and choosing Create Jira Issues.

3 Update test cases in Jira

Another benefit of using the TestComplete Jira plugin is that you can update test cases in Jira based on the test results in TestComplete. To do this, you need to enable the option to update issues after test runs in TestComplete. To enable this option, go to Tools > Options > Jira Integration and select your connection. Then, check the box that says Update issues after test runs. You can also choose how to update the issue status, resolution, and comments based on the test outcome.

After enabling this option, you can update test cases in Jira by running your tests in TestComplete. TestComplete will automatically update the issues that are linked to the test cases that were executed. You can also update issues manually by right-clicking any project item in TestComplete and selecting Update Jira Issue. This will open a dialog box where you can review and modify the issue details before updating it.

4 View and manage test cases in Jira

The TestComplete Jira plugin also allows you to view and manage your test cases in Jira from TestComplete. To do this, you need to open the Jira Integration panel in TestComplete. To open this panel, go to View > Select Panel > Jira Integration. This panel will show you a list of all the issues that are linked to your TestComplete project items. You can filter, sort, and group the issues by various criteria, such as issue type, status, priority, etc.

From this panel, you can also perform various actions on the issues, such as opening them in Jira, editing them in TestComplete, deleting them, adding comments, attaching files, etc. To perform an action on an issue, right-click it and select the desired option from the context menu.

5 Troubleshoot common issues

When using the TestComplete Jira plugin, you may encounter some issues. To troubleshoot these, first check your network settings, firewall settings, Jira URL, mapping settings, issue fields, and permissions. Make sure you have the correct username and password for your Jira account as well as the required fields and values for the issue types you are creating or updating. Additionally, verify that you have the permission to create or edit issues in Jira. Furthermore, ensure that you have the correct filter criteria for the issues you want to see or update and that you have the issue links between your TestComplete project items and Jira issues. Lastly, make sure that you have synchronization settings enabled for updating issues after test runs.
