2 Graduated Neutral Density Filters

Graduated neutral density (GND) filters are similar to ND filters, but they have a gradual transition from dark to clear. They are designed to balance the exposure between the bright sky and the darker foreground, which can be challenging for architectural photography. GND filters come in different shapes, such as rectangular or circular, and different types, such as soft, hard, or reverse. Soft GND filters have a smooth transition that works well for uneven horizons, such as mountains or buildings. Hard GND filters have a sharp transition that works well for flat horizons, such as seas or fields. Reverse GND filters have a darker area in the middle that works well for sunrise or sunset scenes.

3 Polarizing Filters

Polarizing filters are special filters that can reduce or eliminate reflections and glare from non-metallic surfaces, such as glass, water, or foliage. They can also enhance the saturation and contrast of colors, such as blue skies, white clouds, or green grass. Polarizing filters work by filtering out the polarized light that bounces off these surfaces, and only allowing the unpolarized light to pass through. To use a polarizing filter, rotate it until you achieve the desired effect. The effect is strongest when you shoot at a 90-degree angle from the sun.
