In my experience as a product owner. We start with user-centered design, delve into the user experience and understanding their pain points, and grasping their desires. Feedback loops are our lifeline; they provide constant insights through surveys, user tests, and customer support channels. This helps us visualize user emotions, user journeys, uncover pain points, and surveys yield quantitative data for informed decisions. Thinking of people as users is already a biased way to approach design as it narrows the scope of what matters to people and why it matters to them into what you as a researcher/designer consider important in the space of your research topic. Life is much more complex that that and to truly design products that can have a positive impact on the world, you need to understand the context of use, people's experiences and interlinked dependencies.

Feedback is important for product design because it allows you to learn from your mistakes, improve your solution, and iterate your process. It's helpful to structure how you're going approach feedback collection process. Some of things I've found to work well: doing a framing workshop with stakeholders to decide what questions we need to answer and how to best do that (what feedback we need and from whom), creating a template for how feedback should be gathered so it could be compared, analysing the findings together with the team to save time and to get everyone to have a first hand experience with how the results were achieved.

Every research has limitations, especially if you're doing it in industry and under time pressure. For the sake of reliability and for you to have a reasonable confidence into making decisions based on your data, you need to understand and state very clearly how your data is biased and/or inconclusive. For example, if you recruited users via an online user recruiting platform, you managed to only capture the views of people who have good digital skills, are probably young, have access to stable internet/technology and as you probably did the test in English, possess good language skills. The insights are still valuable, but not representative. In some cases, you can work around this gap, in other cases, you can't.
