Technology is evolving at a rapid rate and students are engaging with it. Integration of social media and tech is key to a successful future. I have found as I have been mentoring students, some have come through an entire education system but have limited computer knowledge thus putting them at a higher risk for social media abuse or misuse. Another student who is completing their studies in a different way. Focusing solely on business, is 16 and is far more employable as they have the ability to utilize social media and technology. Many years ago the concept of sending an email was unheard of but someone who didn't learn how is at a disadvantage. Imagine if we don't teach the tech now. What a disservice we would be doing for our youth.

It should also be noted that one of the main strengths of digital tools is the amount of instant data you can gather and thus make any needed adjustments on the fly so that your students walk out the door with the knowledge that you set out for them to have.

Establishing a comfort level with the use of digital tools was initially a challenge as a 30 year teacher, however after the learning process takes place, digital tools have simplified teacher life tremendously for me. A few programs I enjoy that have not previously been mentioned are Canva (creating), Edulastic (assessment), Generation Genius (instruction) & Quizizz (study & practice).
