With almost 4 decades in this industry and using a multitude of various software. There are 2 main differences in cad/cam software. There are software that are primarily cam with some cad capabilities and there are those that are primarily cad with cam or nc capabilities. They all can be expensive by the time you by any added modules you might need as well post purchase can be expensive if you have a multi-axis machine. Don't get caught up in all the bells and whistles. When chosing the software, be mindful of the available in finding a programmer who can hit the ground running instead of many hours of training or adapting to the one you choose.
