How do you turn cold calling fear into opportunity?

Have confidence in your product or service and then you have nothing to fear. Have confidence in yourself and cold calling is fun.

In my personal opinion, I do not believe in cold calling as a sales strategy. However, I understand that it may work for some businesses and individuals. I simply prefer to establish a relationship with potential clients through a different ways, such as networking or referrals. Ultimately, every business has its own unique approach and what works for one may not work for another.

I know, It is scary, the electric chill when start dialing... Do this: Like you are calling your friend to ask for their opinion on something new. Those first 8 to 10 seconds, define that call. * Practice, Stumble, Get Better, Its just a Call.

Change your mindset. This is not a "cold call" it's an opportunity to meet someone. Make it a "warm call" in your mind. You have something that can benefit that person. And don't rely on just the call. Maybe find them on LinkedIn, and see a picture to help you feel confident you are trying to talk to a real person. The last point, make the call focused on that individual. You are not just selling something, you a starting a relationship.

My first boss had a sign behind his desk that to this day still resonates with me and I use as a reminder when cold calling. " The door to success is labeled PUSH." I always pause and think, could I be a possible resource to this prospect with what I do? Second will I enlighten them about the state of the industry for their benefit? and third will it be beneficial for them? Mindset matters and if you don't make the call, could you possibly be missing an opportunity to possibly help someone be more profitable?

Scripting is getting outdated all you need to know that what your organization is doing and what the person you're reaching out takes care of once you get that you just need to start the conversation wherein you're giving the person a sense of how you'll be adding value. people listen what they want to listen not what you want them to listen.

Transform cold calling fear into opportunity by adopting a positive mindset, thorough preparation, setting achievable goals, prioritizing quality conversations, starting with warm leads, building rapport, overcoming objections, embracing follow-up, continuous learning, celebrating wins, self-care, and seeking support from peers or mentors.

As long as you know what your ICP is, you can build your script accordingly. There are many back and forward examples, bottom line, be as professional and natural as possible. * Mold your script accordingly, keep working on it, there are samples and tools that are free and available. * Follow the Top Voices, the ones that have been there. * Understand, the more you try, the more you get better.

I have found having a talk track or script of some sort can make all the difference in your attitude and comfort level of cold calling. Make sure you know have a talk track for when your prospect answers the phone. Have a talk track for leaving a voice mail. Being prepared and not "winging" it makes all the difference.

I've always used an script for my cold calls, this is a way to gain confidence, knowing and preparing an answer for every objection but also, having a clear idea of how you are going to present your value proposition. You can always add new content or edit the possible answers you are going to give every time you find a better way of doing it. Remember a script is not something you are going to read as a robot, but is a guideline to give you the right information when you need it

Tonality is a must. Do not rush it. Practice 10 minutes before your first calls Record your Pitch/Voice in your cellphone Take a deep breath and make it happen Pick up the phone and let it flow.

Love the advice from JC- record your call openings and voice mail messages. Listen to them- do they sound natural, inviting and offer value as to why your prospect wants to talk with you. Keep recording/practicing until it sounds natural to you.

Practice until you can say it without even looking at it. Practice with your friends or family members. Practice on your cats if you have them. You annoy them anyway so they don't care one way or another.

You can't control what your prospects say or do but you can control what you do. Have a goal of x number of calls a day. Be disciplined and make those calls no matter what. With repetition and determination it will be a natural part of your routine (like working out) and it takes no effort at all.

1. Its a psychology game. Focus on what you want from the target based on the skills and information you have. 2. Make friend with your target. Human has families, human celebrates event. Be perceptive to probing and to listen are the key. After 2-3 rounds of rejection, you are able to gather some info about your target's personality. Then you talk to them like you talk to a new friend in a pleasant manner, you would be able to achieve your goal effectively.

Have a set goal of number of calls by a certain time of the morning. Then take a break, and I like to take a walk outside to clear my mind. Then have another set number you plan to make by lunch time. After lunch you have another goal, then take your afternoon break. By 3:00 you are not under the gun because you met your goals and can feel satisfaction in having had the discipline to reach them. Take another walk and then finish your day with research, honing your script, tweaking emails and LinkedIn messaging, scrolling LinkedIn to learn about your industry/trends.

Fear is an exceptionally powerful motivator. If you know you're scared of something, you can either run from it or face it. Daily facing your fear of cold calling will make you stronger. Not just as a sales person, but as human being.

I spent one summer in college doing door-to-door sales in Austin, Texas. It was one of the best experiences of my life. The days were long and hot. It was in those long and hot days that I learned that with cold calling you just need to stay positive and persistent. I learned to remind myself that I was selling something that really would help people and it was a numbers game. Most people I talked with would say "no", but there was a certain percentage that would say "yes". During those long, hot days I learned how to push through realizing that the sales would come as long as I kept at it. I would say something else that helped was to genuinely enjoy the many conversations I had meeting new people.

The great thing about lead generation in 2023 is that if you don’t like cold calling you don’t have to do it! You can use a combination of email, LinkedIn and calls to make cold calling almost ‘warm’. Worked for me. My 2 SDRs hardly did any cold calls and got 120 web demos in 10 months with enterprise within organisations using a combination of LinkedIn, calls and emails. Quality was awesome and the sales team were able to sell. Everyone’s happy!

By now you know that Selling is not easy. What it takes to move the needle. All the steps that come after a call... Follow-up is king. I read the other day: "Sales is one of the only careers in the world that compensates you in direct proportion to your performance."

Something that worked well for me - video email. Prospects receive hundreds of cold emails - stand out with a personalized video email. Then follow up with a phone call - you can break the ice by talking about the video email. "Hey Mr Prospect - what did you think of my video email?"

The human connection. If someone mentions something on the call, prove your listening by engaging with it - IE If they mention they already purchased a property offer congratulations, if they mention they have not been well, offer your sympathies. After all it is the human interaction we remember the most.
