My last employer would do a Townhall meeting and those that spoke Spanish would be held somewhere else from those of us that spoke English. It gave them an opportunity to have time with the CEO about any of their concerns. They seemed happy about having the opportunity to do that.

My last employer created a whole training group that was responsible for any and all training on the machines and then getting them signed off on their qualifications. The group could also be used to help translate if other issues had a rose, or they had concerns about something. The only time the trainer would be on the floor is when they were training so once they were done, we would call them as we needed them.

Treat your participants as individuals and never put them in a position to speak for an entire group. For example, never turn to an African American participant to ask them to speak on a certain issue. That individual can only speak about their perspective or their experiences. As a trainer, you need to set this expectation and only allow "I" stories. No one in the room can speak for someone else.
