In my experience, this is where having recurrent 1:1s with colleagues pays off directly. It’s a great way to passively and directly learn the motivations, needs, and OKRs of different teams: this is imperative to your approach for writing and executing on new SOPs. It’s likely that you and your colleagues are working toward a common goal, but need to approach it from different angles. Similarly, base your training strategy with what you know of the other teams.

My company will provide live training to new process writers which includes exercises so they are used to the established structure. Outside that, we have pre-recorded video tutorials and written guidelines that are available to everyone at any given time. I also find one-on-one feedback useful, if just to tweak some aspects (e.g. when to use bullet points, how to properly insert screen grabs, etc.).

One thing I have found useful is to develop an organization wide SOP on how to prepare SOPs. This would include details about important sections, format, signatories etc. and hence provides new SOP developers somewhere to start from.
