The thing is you perpetuate any ongoing problems with approaching SRM, when you have a one off, one time approach to assess staffs current skills, knowledge and attitudes. Why? Your approach has to be broad, or you end up missing out on 75% of the picture. The point is SRM goes far beyond your staff. It’s complex. As well as including your various departments and teams, it includes suppliers and their teams. It includes industry insights. It includes customers and their needs. So what’s the 75%? It’s knowing the markets. It’s knowing how to find value for business and customers. And it’s knowing how these aspects all navigate through sustainable and socially responsible belief systems.

I focused on approaches that would be most effective considering needs of the supplier management teams. Our change team trained small groups, tailoring the sessions with scenarios that were directly relevant for their specific use cases. This approach ensured that the training informative and directly applicable to their daily tasks. Following this, we organized drop-in sessions. These were informal to answer practical challenges users encountered while using the software. A comprehensive resource sharepoint site which included training materials like videos and quick reference guides was made available. Overall, the training strategy blended practical, hands-on learning with ongoing support to drive adoption of the SRM software.

In my experience user adoption metrics should be tracked by feature to understand what is valued bh the users. Such metrics would show what can be amplified and areas where more training is needed. Testimonials from early adopters will help to move the laggards into considering adoption. Focus groups of early adopters will help to identify issues early and make changes before wider roll out.
