How do you test and validate your user guide with real users and feedback?

I like to give my guides to a naive, but smart user. I let them walk through it and take notes as to what doesn't make any sense.

Ask yourself, "How easy is it to follow the guide I have written?" The best test is to watch people follow your guide. You will see how your writing works in real life. It's sometimes hard to but you will improve very fast this way. If you can't do that, just ask for regular feedback. Let them email you or fill a form. Ask what they found easy. What was confusing? What was missing? Use that information to improve you user guide. Before you know it, you will start getting praise for your writing. And your readers will love you more!
