I was handed out a repo to clone and after setting it up and installing npm dependencies based on the provided package.json and package-lock.json. Yet the dependencies kept breaking and weren't even enough to just start the server. Turns out that most of the dependencies depended on older version of Node.js and it required manual downgrading, but I used NVM (Node Version Manager), furthermore, that same project was using an old version of Material UI and hence it required old versions of docs to modify. In other words, you can't even start to debug until you can replicate your code to run similarly to your client's machine.
