How do you stay current with content governance and workflow?

Auditing your content is by far the most important to analyze your growth and mistakes as to how your existing content is performing across the channels. After doing an initial audit, you can do two things to make sure your content stays fresh and valuable. 1. Test and optimize: Experiment with different approaches to find what works best for you, after you get some data about your engagement and content performance, you can refine it more and double down on what's working for you and what's not. 2. Collaborate and seek feedback: Once you create content, collaborate with other team members in your company, and get inputs to improve your content. This way you'll be able to get an idea of your content standard and its value.

I think for me, understanding context is very critical when it comes to creating and evaluating content. Some content may be dated and new research is required to augment that piece of content.At other times, a piece of content could be ahead of its time and now there is quantifiable data available to back up the claims made.

In my experience, teaching online courses in entrepreneur, ship, and business law online in the California community college system, it is imperative to audit your online content and syllabus. In California, unlike many other states, specific topics must be covered in each of my courses before a a course will be eligible for transfer and full credit for the student at a four year university. therefore, as a government practice, it is essential to stay on course, and informed so that students receive the maximum value from my courses. moreover, as an advocate for students with visual disabilities I am constantly reviewing and revising my communications with my online students to make sure they meet accessibility requirements.

One thing I’ve found helpful is to anticipate who else in the organization will or should share or contribute to the content. So, besides having solid guidelines and a clear governance for your content, share specific content guidelines for your leaders so that they understand the key message(s) and can make sure that it is consistent and add their personal touch to it.

I love to use Basecamp for our internal workflow and for external i use Notion.so it is password protected but works like your own Wikipedia.

Data give us a valuable insight about the specific topics our audience care the most, and which are driving us the more traffic. One useful strategy is taking this information to stretch that content even more by repurposing it and turn it into smaller pieces of content.

I agree, it’s important to take the time to create a content strategy and monitor it. We use Google Analytics and SemRush to help us evaluate and improve our content strategy .

Regularly analysing and monitoring the content strategy is as essential as salt is to taste! Analysing and understanding what is working for you and what is not, whether the content suits your business niche or not? Ask this to yourself. Do not just blindly copy the person who is excelling in the niche similar to yours. Just because it worked out for them, doesn't mean it will work out for you.

I go by a few thumb rules: * Follow professionals in the content domain on LinkedIn * Be an active member of Techcomms groups. * Attend and speak at Techcomms conferences. * Explore various tools used for creating content. * Train and mentor those who need guidance. The more I help others the more I learn.

Attending free webinars on LinkedIn and paid conferences can also offer tremendous value. Content experts and marketers often share their insights and experiences at these events, providing real-life cases that can help you understand the practical applications of content governance and workflow. Furthermore, regularly participating in these events can expose you to a variety of approaches and strategies, thereby enhancing your ability to adapt and innovate in your own work. It's a continuous learning journey that keeps you competitive and relevant in an ever-evolving field.

I certainly agree about staying connected and learning from others. Iron sharpens iron. When I commune with like-minded people, it is one of my ways of becoming charged up and energized. It allows me to move forward toward my goals. Whsimultaneouslytime lending my expertise to encourage others to meet their goals. An exchange of information, experiences, and desires can stimulate and motivate. Forming collaborations is another way to share tips and tools.

We conduct an annual CRUD exercise that entails the following: C - Create With every new feature released, create new documents. During CRUD we audit how many new documents were created in the system. R - Review If analytics show a doc is not being used at all, review if taxonomy is implemented, research on key words, or the doc is not needed at all as the information might be irrelevant for the user persona it was intended for. U - Update With every enhancement, update the relevant document. During CRUD exercise identify docs that have not been updated since long. D - Delete I would say archive first then delete. Never delete a doc right away. Implement clear rules around when a document must be archived.

I follow YouTube channels like Income School and pay for courses on content marketing. I like to follow people on Linkedin and study how they are successful with content marketing.
