Defining your goals for the pitch deck is crucial - how else do you start? Know what you want to improve, contribute, give, provide, add value to etc. Give absolute clarity with bevity, relevance and maybe some visual appeal. This focus helps ensure the feedback you receive is relevant and actionable, guiding your revisions effectively. Because you'll almost certainly need those.

2 Step 2: Choose your sources

The next step is to decide who you will ask for feedback, and how. You want to get feedback from a variety of sources, such as your team members, mentors, advisors, peers, industry experts, and potential customers. However, you also want to be selective and strategic about who you approach, and how much feedback you request. You don't want to overwhelm yourself with too much or conflicting feedback, or waste time with irrelevant or biased feedback. You can use tools like surveys, interviews, focus groups, or online platforms to collect feedback in different formats and channels.

Just like it works in sales to ask your prospect if "they know someone that could benefit from (your) solution" (knowing full well that, in theory, that would be them), it is also the case for pitch deck. If you can ask for feedback from someone that could potentially be the intended audience of this pitch, it can lead to a close or at least very relevant information. "I'm looking for feedback on my investor pitch deck. Considering you are often pitched to, I thought you may know someone that could point me in the right direction". With a little bit of luck, they will volunteer themselves. Be mindful and strategic when doing this tactic, as people are not stupid and it does need to make sense. Consider the risk-reward ratio.

Make changes iteratively, testing the revised deck with a small audience.
