Setting professional goals and objectives is a crucial step in achieving career success. I’ve found that having clear goals can provide direction and motivation. When working on setting annual goals, I start with a Self-Assessment. I reflect on my skills, what I enjoy doing and am good at vs what I wish I knew more about or could improve on. This self-reflection helps identify your strengths and weaknesses. Next, I visualize where I want to be in the future. What position do I want to hold? Having a clear long-term vision coupled with the outcome of my self-assessment helps me set meaningful goals that align with my company’s corporate goals while also enhancing my skills towards my desired career path.

I've found it essential to communicate my achievements and development regularly. I've updated them on my accomplishments, whether it's through formal presentations, status reports, or informal conversations. Highlight how I've taken on new responsibilities, acquired new skills, or contributed to the team's success. I continuously seek feedback and incorporate it into my work, demonstrating my commitment to continuous improvement. Additionally, sharing my goals and aspirations will demonstrate my dedication to personal and professional development. Ultimately, my actions and results should speak for themselves, reinforcing my growth within the organization.

I usually do it by identifying a problem and a possible solution and discussing it with colleagues ( who are decision-makers ) emitting positive vibes and a can-do spirit!

Let's start with a step back: defining your Personal Cultural Attributes is essential. Why? Because without your personal guiding principles, you lack a clear path to purpose. Cultural significance isn't just for companies to define; it's crucial for individuals too. How? Here's a condensed approach: 1. List people you respect and admire. 2. Study them—read/watch their interviews, books, and biographies to understand why you admire them. 3. Refine your list. 4. Identify the attributes you resonate with. Break your long-term goals into smaller, actionable steps. I call them 'Rocks'. This will make them more manageable and increase your chances of success. Each smaller step should have its own deadline and be aligned with the overall goal- I typically break them into monthly and quarterly goals. I like to create a goal sheet in Sharepoint and share that link with my colleagues and Managers so they can check in on my progress. I'm all about creating visibility into my work and welcome any questions or feedback along the way.

The hack to stay relevant both for your management and team is by "communicating" regularly on objectives, small initiatives and backing the initiative taken in terms of success stories derived from it with data. Empowering the team to take decisions on ground in sync with the goals set in beginning and supporting the team at all times even if the initiative is unable to make an impact. The result however small need to be celebrated with all the stakeholders and that's build the organic growth in the organisation.

In my experience also is very important to quantify the achievements, people love to see numbers and is more easy to have an exact idea of what you really did. If is possible, we always need to use numbers or percentages to demonstrate the real impact. Also when we are sharing our accomplishments, we need to use action verbs at the beginning of the descriptions, using “managed” or “implemented” reflects the strength in what we did. I’m agree that we need to maintain a master list of achievements for easy updates and also seek there input or feedback from supervisors or colleagues.
