This prevents white borders from showing due to slight shifts in the cutting process. Margins: Leave a safe margin of at least 1/4 inch (0.25 inches) inside the trim edge. This area should be free of important text and graphics to avoid trimming them off accidentally. Depending on the details on the page content, bleed is necessary to allow a minimal margin of error for the cutting operator. If the page content has ‘common bleed’ then the items can be stepped for the press sheet without gutters. If it has unique bleed aspects then not only will you need bleed on the outside of the trim area, but also a gutter In between. This prevents unique bleed elements from accidentally appearing adjacent to the previous stepped item.

Creating bleeds and trimming mark is very essential and important either in precollating and final cutting for print job. I use Coreldraw and Illustrator, depending on collaborative aspect of the designs. Vector based design software. On book productions, I normally do a dommy collation; with the type of paper and thickness, to determine the interdistance between two facing pages in Stiched Book finishing. For instance, a 120 pages print publication, has different page inter distance to determine and calculate. The cover & back, must have the thickness width added in between the page size, however page 61 & 62; the core inner page at exact page size with folding mark indicated. The trimming mark justified for perfect cutting.
