Being able to meet data security and privacy requirements daily boils down to efficient processes and tools. Marketing is special in that it both consumes a lot of customer data (most of which is PII), and activates that data both internally (analytics and segmentation) and externally (campaigns and audiences). Marketers are also a busy bunch. Monitoring data activities should then be made easy and fast. One method is to use an interactive dashboard. Even better, if said dashboard sends out alerts or notifications to marketers when something out-of-the-ordinary happens.

Data security is a matter of utmost importance, especially to marketers. Most marketers today are already well-educated in the domain of data privacy (due to GDPR, CAN-SPAM, etc.). Security, however, is another story. I'd say that it is mainly because data security is often highly technical and complex to master. There is a way to ensure that data security and privacy are constantly monitored and developed. The solution: set up a Data Center of Excellence (DCoE). The DCoE is an internal team of experts whose role it is to monitor data security and quality across the organisation, train the personnel and support in building sustainable practices for better data protection.
