One of the great advantages of blended learning is that it can free up time for the teacher who no longer needs to present the parts of the course that are available online. He or she can use this time in different pedagogically very relevant ways that allow him or her to improve his or her pedagogical system, which seems to me to be the main objective. As it is very easy to switch from a traditional course with slides to an online course, (to produce a slideshow with soundtrack all the teacher has to do is record with a headset microphone what he or she would have said in person to accompany each slide), the initial investment can be quite low, even if the initial device is enriched and improved later on the basis of user feedback.

This seems to me to be easier said than done. Based on my experience, it is better to prototype with simple solutions and then enrich them based on the feedback of all stakeholders rather than hoping to be able to exhaustively evaluate all the EdTech possibilities that are offered today. Switching to blended learning can be quite easy as I mentioned above. Once they have a first model, the teacher does his or her own blended learning process, new ideas come to him or her and he or she iteratively implements what best suits his or her pedagogical context.

5 Experiment and reflect

Finally, researching blended learning models is not a one-time or linear process. It is an ongoing and iterative cycle of experimentation and reflection. You can start by piloting or testing a blended learning model with a small group of learners or a short module or unit. One of the great advantages of blended learning is that it can free up time for the teacher who no longer needs to present the parts of the course that are available online. He or she can use this time for new and relevant learning activities, such as: 1) Personalized tutoring during the hours when the learners are working online, in the form of discussions of about 10-15 minutes one-on-one with each of them, face-to-face or remotely 2) Part of the face-to-face sessions can be devoted to collective discussions between the teacher and the learners, where he or she asks them to give feedback on the online course. This is very stimulating, reinforces collaborative learning and gives clues on how to improve the initial e-learning course.
