Domain knowledge and technical skills in your area of specialty in the company. You should be the one who knows everything from the perspective of guiding others in the path of closing any issues.

In other words just one single actual troubleshooting will make the point! People undersestemate Quality Assurance by all means. In fact QA people are silent warriors. You dont see them much acting around as perseptive person. But you will feel the impact on the hob big time.

So many organizations measure the value of QA in the number of defects QAs find, while that number is actually an indictment on QAs' failure as part of the software development organization. For QA to prove their worth, they must understand that when QA is done correctly, it disappears. QA becomes part of the ethos of a software development organization in that it works to prevents defects, rather than the finding of defects. QA's value is then proven by reaching zero defects at all stages of software development.

There are many things but these are important skillsets to have * Communication - being the voice of QA, raising concerns, conveying thoughts clearly to diverse audiences, provide detailed bug reports with reproducible steps * Flexibility - wearing multiple hats, learning the stack/domain, adapting to process changes, keeping up with test tools * Automation - giving confidence to releases, provide measureable quality metrics, automate repetitive tasks to allow for exploratory testing Quality (should) start at the beginning of the software development life cycle. Advocating for quality sooner indirectly embeds and influences the team. Everybody can be responsible for quality, it is up to you, as the QA professional, to drives that home.

Extended contacts and influence have been valuable in the QA profession. It is vital for learning, gaining insights, and spotting opportunities. While I disagree with negotiating connections solely for personal gain, I have personally experienced how transformative discussions with a mentor can be. Building a supportive community in the QA field enhances our collective knowledge base and fosters personal and professional growth.

One thing I have found helpful is to keep a running List of Improvements I personally would love to see happen outside of my daily project based work. Sometimes this is improvements in team communication dynamics, automation refactoring improvements, learn a new library, improving analytics reporting, a training id like to attend, befriend the UX team, or what ever you want it to be. I start the list when I start a new position and I track it until I leave. Items are crossed off, dated, but not 'removed'. This allows for self reflection as well as a good starting point for writing self reviews. I find it helps put perspective on your career journey and a better way to see how you are effecting your workplace for the good.

I think this one of the most important parts of QA. Even if we got the experience, certfications and also successful projects: Feedback is the QA of QA. Not just the success but mainly the overall-experience with QA can be the most helpful source for further improvement.

What all the examples here miss to highlight is that all your efforts shall have a measurable outcome; after testing and iterating with R&D, where bugs really fixed? Do you have lower customer complaints? Did the reliability of the product meet your and your customer's expectations?
