How do you plan and promote a live streaming event on social media?

Having goals is like knowing what your outcome is going to be before you even take the step. When you know your goals and objectives, you can be certain to attract the right type of audience to your live streams. I'm always looking to Educate my audience with my knowledge of home studio gear, and I inspire them through my journey and struggles. With these two simple tips, you can bring back a ton of value to your audience. This also enables you to build the "know, like, and trust" factor.

It's best to pick the Social Channels the you're are active on. I am all in on LinkedIn, so that is my preferred channel for live streaming. But since I also have a YouTube channel, I go co-stream live to both channels each week. That allows me to get the best bang for my marketing buck. My favorite 3rd party tool for live streaming is StreamYard. It's such an easy browser based tool to use AND I love that I can display comments on screen from both LinkedIn and YouTube audience members who are attending the Live.

Think of this as a plan of action and have a good plan so when you do go off-topic (as we all do) it is much easier to get back on track and make sure that you're delivering gold to the audience. So make sure you have a simple ROS or as we call in the industry "Run of the Show"

Prepare show notes that fit your stream - I suggest: Structured & Flexible, 1 page with bullet points Welcome Ask Introduction Ask Share stream's purpose Topic 1 - engaging question Encourage audience participation Topic 2 - engaging question Invite comments Q&A Summarize key points Call to Action Ultimately, it's about finding what works best for you! While a typed-out script provides structure and security about what to say and how to say it, speaking spontaneously leads to more authentic interactions. Repurposing content is engagement & so much more - and live streaming is an awesome piece of content to create engagement. You can take clips from your previous live shows and create social media posts on all your platforms. It's what I call micro-contenting (MC). Taking long-form content, turning it into short clips. Slicing your 30/60 min show into 60 sec??or less bites - gold. MC gives potential viewers a glimpse into what the vibe & content of your show is like. Like a movie trailer! Someone may not have time to tune in for a full episode.?Maybe they tune in at start when you’re doing your intro, then have to go - and miss the heart of your show. MC gives people a feel for the??of your show in 60??sec’s or less. #VoiceYourVibeAi??

Live streaming’s (LS) an excellent opportunity to connect with your audience in real-time.?Encourage participation by asking questions,?inviting them to comment & share their thoughts.?It's also important to respond to comments & questions?during+after the LS to build relationships?& create a sense of community. Commenting after+bringing comments on screen LIVE are also ways to engage. 1 of our favorite engagement strategies is to bring audience comments up on screen.?We’ll ask a question, then use their responses to make them feel more like they’re a part of the show.?Say Hi! to someone in the comments! The more you include your audience, the more they feel seen/heard/loved/valued, which builds loyalty & a ‘family’. #VoiceYourVibeAi??

Remember to Re-Purpose! Your live stream can be used on many other platforms, blogs or evens your next book! When I create my Live on LinkedIn I use Streamyard. This streams to my YouTube and Facebook channels as well as LinkedIn. I also have the facility to download the video and audio files which I share with my guest to help them. PLUS I have a file that can be uploaded to my Podcast so I have evergreen content in an easier-to-consume format. With all the tools available you should also transcribe your audio for blogs and articles on your website, newsletters and new posts on social media.
