While providing a high-level approach to any scenario it is important to account for the tech stack and existing architectural landscape you are dealing with. For example, having an understanding of the current deployment architecture, whether the setup is on the cloud or On-premise, which cloud provider the organization is working with, and what technologies the current team is using, etc. Always be ready to objectively back your decisions. Any architectural decision you take will have certain tradeoffs, articulate those clearly. Communicate constraints in which your solution will work, and most importantly don't be open-ended, have proper closures on all your decisions.

A critical oversight that often occurs is candidates neglect to recognize that the evaluation panel may and should have both technical and non-technical members. One thing that might be helpful is to use past experiences but only where it fits. Meaning that you need to distinguish between various enterprise architectures so you don’t mix up things. Once the use case becomes suitable to use past architecture put it into practice. If it does not then try to come up with a new design.

Make sure you strip the architecture be more concise and innovative make sure your experience is reflected as expertise in the subject

The best way to navigate through these interviews is to ask questions. Here me out! You as a candidate should be asking good quality questions from the use case provided. Panelist makes a strong judgment of your experience based on how deep you can think about a challenge. Also, think out loud. This is a key to let the panelist know that you're not shooting in the dark but actually navigating the way. Tell them what your brain is thinking, what design you're putting up, the thought process & assumptions behind them. I really like a YT channel-'Exponent'. They have a lot of interview mock-ups and system design videos, go for it. Lastly, let the panelist know that "you don't know yet". Be real, be you, wish you good luck!

My perspective has evolved over my career. In my opinion a good solution architect interview candidate is able to show-case the following: 1. their proficiency of technology patterns 2. their expertise in at least 1 tier of n-tier computing 3. their ability to remain product-agnostic 4. their needs. I found all my interviews challenging and even ended some when I felt no further purpose was gained. This has served me well.

I would highly recommend planning ahead. In many instances, the onboarding team can assist with potential onboarding questions and challenges an organization might be looking to solve. When I have this information, I attempt to create references diagrams, network diagrams etc. In an attempt to showcase my skill sets in Architecture and in the technology stack that I am possibly interviewing in.
