Most ETL tools will have built-in failure-alerting functionality. Also DBT has some very robust testing features (easily test for duplicates in key columns, write any custom queries for potential problems with accuracy, completeness, freshness, etc)

If there are operations that block each anothers or consume more RAM that you expected, you must evaluate and fix your database.

Don't forget to consider people in all of these steps: * Who will respond to production outages? In the event of source connectivity issues are the network/infrastructure team available at 3AM? Do the network team agree that your P1 issue is also a P1 for them? * For trend analysis and pre-empting performance issues - do you actually give people the time to do this? Did you actually give your people enough time to build a good solution in the first place?
