These days any sizable construction project needs to be punched or snagged electronically.... yet all Punch platforms are not created equally. Most of the will have the basic capabilities of creating an item, assigning it to someone and adding a picture and a due date at a minimum. Some platforms actually offer the ability to punch on the floorplan so there is a sense of location to the punch item...some even go further to define a space vs simply punching one of many rooms on a floorplan. Creation of the punch list has gotten super-efficient with most platforms but how about taking it to the next step and having the platform allow the trades to enter comments, completions, photos or even track their time to complete or even see thiers.

Our practice starts with a "Gold Standard". In Hospitality, we punch a standard room and bring in the owner and AoR to agree with our assessment of punch items. Once the three parties level-set, we then bring in the GC and do the same thing...there is usually some back and forth but once all parties agree, we have a standard by which to punch. Then we send frequent reports, overalls to the owner and GC and trade specific to the subs. We also provide high-level metric reports as needed for meetings. During OAC and other meetings we login to the platform "live" and generate on demand reporting related to a particular topic, this eliminates finger pointing and shows the actual item and allows the parties to solve the item efficiently.
