Tools help. I use Grammarly Pro and always work on writing at a level that is understandable, with shorter paragraphs to emphasize points. Keeping the audience in mind is critical of course and must be part of the overall equation. Deciding all this before I dive into a piece matters. Also, writing is rewriting every single time!
