A series of steps to perform, and sometimes repeatedly, to make sure the users needs are well understood, the product-market fit is verified, and design directions are solidified through involvement of the users. Value is created when users get something out of a product or service that enriches their life. Sometimes it takes a while to perceive that impact, but it is well worth iterating through that process to deliver the optimal experience that brings the most value.

Create a safe space for your team to ideate freely without judgment. Encourage diverse thinking and innovative ideas. Facilitate collaborative workshops and brainstorming sessions. Use techniques like mind mapping, role-playing, and storyboarding to stimulate creativity and idea generation. Moreover be open to changing course based on new insights. Design thinking is iterative, so be willing to pivot and adjust the approach as you learn more about user needs and preferences. In the end, demonstrate the qualities you wish to see in your team mates. Show empathy, curiosity, and a willingness to learn, inspiring your team to do the same.

Safe space is vital. In the early stags of design thinking you have to have the freedom too think outside of the box. That can be so hard to do at the onset, but i think its vital. Next, giving the different tools for folks to leverage as brainstorming is also necessary.

It's important to keep the team oriented towards the problems you're trying to solve. In a research phase, you might be uncovering those problems. Throughout the rest of the process, you should be bringing the team's exploration and solution design back around to what solutions are a fit for the problem at hand - not just what seems cool or is exciting to adopt, but what you believe will effectively mitigate or solve the problems uncovered. Asking the question "What's the problem we're trying to solve" is one place to start. When you have competing solutions that are both pertinent to the problem, compare them from a usability and technical feasibility / cost standpoint, and test them.

Leading design thinking sessions can be very much about following a script. It also requires to be diligent with process structures and frameworks that binds participants to certain contracts. Breakthroughs happen when these sessions are lead with empathy and creativity. Every team and environment, factoring in the sized of the challenge, may often require facilitators to let the team diverge and merge at different points. Doing this throughout user research requires a lot of practice. It is often recommended to shadow an expert researcher while silently rehearsing the scripts.

Then making sure as leaders, we show up every day as human as possible, knowing that Innovation is hard and that being kind is key. Fostering curiosity is also vital and of course, having fun!

Ensuring a non-judgemental atmosphere is key to growth and innovation. The team members should feel empowered to express their ideas, questions, and thoughts without any fear. Once this supportive atmosphere is established, the next step involves prioritizing understanding the problem thoroughly before rushing into solutions. Present the team with a goal to understand the problem, rather than setting up to act on a solution. Encourage them to ask questions and gain a comprehensive understanding. From there, guide the team towards crafting effective solutions based on their newfound insights.

Consider these 3 key aspects: 1. Ensure high-quality deliverables. Measure this by the clarity of your designs, the speed of completion, and the depth of questions they provoke. Progress is marked by fewer questions over time, quicker execution, and more insightful discussions when questions do arise. 2. Check the accuracy of implementation. The delivered product should closely match the original design, in terms of flow, user experience, and visual interface. It shows strong standards across teams. 3. Measure user response. Depending on the design type, look for measurable improvements in conversion rates, user activation, and other relevant metrics to ensure designs resonate with your audience.

Design is a tool to reach certain business goals, the impact of design would reflect in achievement of certain business goals like - -User Adoption Rates -User Retention & Engagement Rates -Conversion Rates Consider this, a sleek & minimaly designed interface may not work for the context of a banking software. At the end of the day the impact on the bottom-line is what defines if the quality of design is good or not.

Design thinking is best used on 'wicked problems' where most of the value comes from fully defining and understanding the problem in the first place. A group struggling with a complex, multi-faceted challenge will often spend more time coming up with solution ideas than unpacking the problem. But if the problem isn't well understood - which only gets more difficult as problem complexity increases - the solution ideas likely won't work. So design thinking takes the opposite approach, and spends considerably more effort on problem definition. The insight is that once the problem is properly understood, finding the solution becomes much easier.

My mantra at my last role as VP of Marketing and Head of Creative Services was to stop giving designers and marketers a solution to execute on, and start giving them a problem to solve. In many cases, a client would present the design team with a "thing" they wanted produced: a brochure, a landing page, a digital ad, etc. However, we always produced the best and most effective work when we were presented with an opportunity and allowed to provide strategic insight on the best way to achieve that goal and engage that audience. Instead of saying, "Design a brochure," try saying, "We need a better way to educate X group on this service. What's the best avenue for reaching that audience in the most compelling and impactful way?"
