How do you know if your talent management is driving innovation?

Alignment between talent and business strategies is paramount. Think of it as a symphony: each instrument (talent) aligns with the conductor's vision (business strategy) to create a masterpiece (innovation). A link between the talent process and business strategy is imperative and this is what any employee would be able to appreciate if they get an opportunity to work on the things they are passionate about and getting success out of it. They will be able to appreciate the transparency of the process where employee growth and development is well supported with the business objectives.

When innovation is central to the business strategy, the organization needs to carefully consider the knowledge, skills, and attributes (KSA's) needed at all levels to begin to foster this cultural differentiator. Successful innovation can not be delegated to a particular group, but rather fueled to its greatest degree when leaders, managers, and individual contributors all see their responsibility in the process. The talent management strategy must elevate the known KSA's that set the stage for innovation to occur through performance management, development initiatives and resources, talent acquisition, and more.

The most relevant and a simple method to align and connect the talent base to the vision and mission of the organization is communicating. The clearer the communication is, that enriching and promising will be the results of such alignment. Organization especially Start-Ups which stay behind this easy method will take longer or will find harder to reach the vision and mission as they were not articulated.
