Choose descriptive and meaningful names for variables, functions, classes and methods. Names should accurately reflect the purpose or functionality of the code element. Ensure consistent formatting throughout the codebase. Use proper indentation, spacing, and line breaks to enhance readability. IDEs and code editors often provide auto-formatting tools that can help enforce consistent formatting standards. Conduct regular code reviews as part of the development process. By following the style guides or conventions for a specific framework or language keeps the code base readable and consistent. We have plenty of tools and guides for all modern frame works and languages like Laravel, React, NextJS, Node, Flutter nad PHP, JavaScript, TypeScript and Dart.

Me and my team follow a specific code convention. It makes it easier when we have work on a component that is written by somebody else. As we work on react, we know where exactly the useEffect is written, where they have done the setState etc. It saves a lot of time because we donot need to check the whole code.

Checkout other components to understand your team's coding convention. ??Use linters and formatters like ESLint or Prettier. Most of the projects have these in-built but in case it's missing, download relevant extensions on VSCode. ??After you're done with the actual code, implement error handling - something which many ignore!

This is where unwritten rules, tips, and tricks can be passed along. However, tooling should also be implemented so code styling is fixed before the first code push. Specifically Prettier and Linting for JS and CSS. If developers don’t have to worry about ordering their imports, uniform spacing, naming conventions, etc, then code reviews can focus on real problems.

All the pointers mentioned are imperative when it comes to having a robust coding environment, but the thing makes the life more easier is to implement things like linting, code formatting in the CI pipelines. Or the best thing you can do before that is to use tool like husky, which does the necessary checks even when you commit your code. It makes the job easier, and ensures that the team is pushing the right thing in the right place. Saves time of the reviewers as well on not worrying about the syntax of formatting error, and focus only on the logic of the functionality written.
