I keep a log in a google document for each individual with what we do in classes. I have this document open during the classes and my screen shared so they can see what I write. I put errors and tips there as well as activities and homework. This way they can review it afterwards and keep track of errors and suggestions.

My classes are 1 on 1, conversation based, so I try to point out the errors right after they make them (without interrupting the student). I can type the "wrong way" vs the "right way" in the comments. Students can review the comments later. If the error is persistent I will find a good YouTube video, or recommend certain ChatGPT prompts, that they can use to study on their own.

Therefore I establish some visual metrics (pics), which are the reference for children how to express their thoughts: I know this, I can improve and I need to work harder. That is all I need to know at the beginning to see how much work a student needs to put into an individual task/skill to master it.

Mistakes are a natural part of learning. I divide these into 3 categories: lapses, mistakes, and errors. A lapse is a failure in concentration. A teacher doesn't need to interrupt a student to correct it. A mistake is wrong language which the student can easily correct if made aware of it. A simple sign from the teacher is usually enough. An error is a mistake a student makes that they are unable to correct without the teacher’s help. Sharing this with my students helps them to understand the role mistakes have in learning a language. It also helps me as their teacher to better know what to do in relation to their mistakes.
