We had an insightful day on the FARE Idaho State Leadership Tour with key Idaho legislators and community leaders, including representatives from U.S. Senators Risch and Crapo’s offices, Idaho District 22 Senator Lori Den Hartog, Idaho District 22 Representative John Vander Woude, and Idaho District 12 Representative Jeff Cornilles. Joining us was also Rachael Dickerson from the University of Idaho Parma Extension. At each stop, we dove into vital issues impacting Idaho’s food system: - Northwest Premium Meats: Discussed workforce challenges in USDA meat processing and the importance of supporting small producers. - Hipwell Ranch: Explored local market access for small ranchers and the role of community-based packing plants. - Telaya Wine Co: Talked about winery regulations, tasting room operations, and the economic benefits of agritourism. - McIntyre Pastures: Focused on scaling up small producers, land access, and distribution cost challenges. - Lunch at Diablo & Sons in Boise: Engaged in dialogue on labor laws, tip taxes, and restaurant sourcing challenges. Thank you to everyone who joined to make this tour a success, and to each business for hosting and sharing your insights!

Idaho restaurants, your voice matters! Participate in the National Restaurant Association’s 2025 Business Conditions Survey and share which trends and challenges will shape your business in the year ahead. This survey not only impacts advocacy efforts at the state and national levels but also contributes to the national “State of the Industry” report, out January 2025. If enough responses are received from Idaho, a state-specific report will be created—essential for effective local advocacy! Let’s make Idaho’s voice heard. Please complete the survey and encourage other local businesses to join in. https://lnkd.in/gzMA8BDH

Thousands of farmers are at risk of fines and penalties as the January 1, 2025, deadline to file Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) with FinCEN quickly approaches. New data from the American Farm Bureau Federation (AFBF) reveals that only 11% of eligible businesses nationwide have filed, leaving over 230,000 farms potentially out of compliance with the Corporate Transparency Act of 2021. AFBF President Zippy Duvall highlights the challenge: “It’s clear that many farmers aren’t aware of the new filing requirement,” with small businesses often lacking resources to keep up with evolving regulations. Missing this deadline could lead to fines up to $10,000 and possible jail time. https://lnkd.in/gSVvFDz9
