Not all RCM software is the same; choosing the right one requires considering functionality, compatibility, scalability, and usability. Seamless integration with your existing CMMS is essential for efficient data exchange. While working at a petrochemical complex in Saudi Arabia, I conducted a thorough analysis to select the best RCM software. I chose Meridium APM for its strong functionality and integration with SAP PM and MM modules. Its scalability allowed us to cover multiple plants, enabling a comprehensive reliability analysis across programs like RCA, RCM, FMEA, ACA, RA, RBI, IM, and TM, significantly improving our reliability management.

As John Moubray famously said: "RCM is thoughtware, not software" so don't get carried away thinking that your software will make your RCM efforts a success, it won't. The success of your RCM efforts will hinge (entirely) on having people who truly understand the process, who understand the principles of reliability that underpin the RCM process and having sufficient time and resources to really deliver a high-quality RCM analysis and then implement it (properly). And despite what this article says, you do NOT need seamless integration between your RCM software and your CMMS. Especially early on in your journey to improve reliability. Keep in mind that you can do a world-class RCM analysis and implementation without any software!

Key to successful RCM implementation is thorougly understanding the process and right people with sufficent time. If somebody doing S-RCM then robust and high quality failure data must be gather from CMMS or any other trustful resources. Because in this team will be focusing on dominant failure rather probable failure.
