How do you identify your ideal target audience for motivational speaking?

Speaker, eh? Let's get you matched with your audience! 1?? First, mirror-check! ?? 2?? Your niche should reflect your passions and experiences. 3?? Who'd benefit most from your wisdom? Find them! Now, do your homework. ???♂? Learn their needs and aspirations. Got it? Good. Now here's the fun part - speak their language! ??? Use their terms, share their experiences, and throw in a relevant joke or two. ?? This keeps your message relatable, resonant, and refreshingly real. No fluff, just impact. Go get 'em, tiger! ??

While of course research to ensure you are speaking to an audience that needs what you are passionate about (seems straight forward but often an oversight), for me it is: ?? Watching + listening to the audience - their reaction, their body language (are they rustling (perhaps your break is needed earlier) are they checking phones (you may be losing them). ?Are they agreeing? >> Dig deeper into the learning. ?Are they unsure ? >> Ask questions to zero in on what it is and share experiences based examples. Lastly you are not going to connect with everyone, that’s ok. Your audience are humans with experiences we know nothing about - speak about what you are knowledgeable and passionate about. Preparation. Passion. That’s it!

I see it more as leading with value, understanding your customers and their pain points and tailoring your content to address the issues. Have a consistent, clear message that resonates to as wide an audience as possible.

Everyone is motivated by different things. Therefore when we are speaking we need to make sure we say the right things to engage with people with each of those motivators. The 9 different drivers of our intrinsic motivation (or in other words our needs) are: Security and stability Recognition Meaningful relationships Being in charge Earning and competition Learning and development Creativity & Problem solving Freedom and Independence Making a difference If we speak to all of the motivators then we will engage with the whole audience

The truth is one can't motivate another person without actually knowing what's holding the person down. Researching the audience is really essential.

What you really need to know is who the audience is. Being aware of the breakdown of who they are allows you to speak directly to them, albeit a segment of the audience. It’s your job to connect these various segments together so that a unified message is relatable and shared with everyone.

In the sea of faces at your talk, there's a group that's ready to dive into action! ??♂? That's your ideal audience, the folks who need your message the most and are primed to act. They're the ones whose needs and interests align with your speciality. ?? So, how to spot them? It's detective time again! ???♂? Crunch the data you collected during your research. Look for patterns and trends that reveal your most promising audience segment. It's not just about a room full of nodding heads, but finding those poised to leap into action. So, analyze, identify, and aim your words at the bullseye! ?? Go, ace that talk! ??

Connection begins before you even step onto the stage. Take a look at your core emotional blocks. Do you judge? Are you afraid of big players? Do you look down on people who are not successful as you? Do you carry anger towards the opposite sex? Any of these programs will disconnect you from your audience, and preferably you must work on them before you step on stage. That way you have the best possible chance to connect with people once you are there.
