This is particularly effective for Account Based Marketing or Revenue campaigns, where you set your sights on a list of accounts and use multi-channel campaigns to unlock new sales opportunities. You've already done the hard work of working with a range of clients and determining which are the highest value to you. Use that data to grow.

This will keep friction to a minimum whilst still allowing you to track specific lead intent/activity, as you'll have the initial cookie set from the first piece of gated content.

It is advisable to incorporate behavioral data from various touchpoints, such as social media interactions, webinar attendance, and customer service inquiries, into your lead scoring model.

Scoresheets are critical, and It's important to match the data with a more human element. Data is important, but I've seen people do more with less on a scoresheet. Intuition is just as important as engagement.

I ditched BANT for MEDDICC. Here's why: For those who don't know BANT stands for Budget, Authority, Need, Timeline. While this is a good place to get started, I personally believe you need to go deeper. Enter MEDDICC: Metrics, Economic buyer, Decision criteria, Decision process, Identify pain, Champion and Competitor. Not only is this more specific but it also pinpoints multiple areas where deals are getting stuck these days. Buyers are more limited on their budgets, they have less time (layoffs anyone?), they are evaluating more potential solutions, and they have tighter decision criteria. The process has become more in depth for the buyer and I believe seller's need to adjust for that.

BANT and MEDDICC are both outdated qualification frameworks. They are both seller centric and not tailored for how buyers are buying today. BANT in particular was created by IBM in the 60s as a way of DISQUALIFYING buyers because they had a LOT of them. MEDDICC is best used in conjunction with a true Sales Methodology. As sellers we need to be more cognizant of the frameworks we use.

BANT might work for transactional sales deals, but MEDDPICC is more effective for navigating midsize and enterprise SaaS deals: M - Metrics (Important business your solution can improve) E - Economic Buyer (Who signs the check) D - Decision Criteria (Understanding their decision matric) D - Decision Process (Their internal buying process) P - Paper Process (Understanding the?paperwork and documentation required; especially relevant for enterprise) I - Identify Pain (Identifying their pain points that you absolve) C - Champion (The person who'll drive the deal when it stalls) C - Competition (Who else the deal's shopped around with) Pro tip: Map these fields in your CRM to new prospects. Don't sleep on Champion. No champion, no deal.

BANT is still useful for initial leads, especially for RFPs or defined projects. But as you get into the sales cycle switching to MEDDPICC or ORDER provide deeper context with respect to aligning to solving business challenges. The Sandler Pain funnel, whilst not an easy way to quantify deals is always useful to augment these frameworks.

There are a tonne of different frameworks you can use. But regardless of the framework chosen, capturing key elements like the customer's needs, decision-making process, budget capacity, and urgency all need to be considered. CHAMP: Challenges, Authority, Money, Prioritization. MEDDIC: Metrics, Economic Buyer, Decision Criteria, Decision Process, Identify Pain, Champion. ANUM: Authority, Need, Urgency, Money. FAINT: Funds, Authority, Interest, Need, Timing. GPCTBA/C&I: Goals, Plans, Challenges, Timeline, Budget, Authority / Negative Consequences & Positive Implications. NEAT Selling: Needs, Economic Impact, Access to Authority, Timeline

It then comes down to budget. SaaS can by-pass the capex budget constraints, with more flexibility to divert opex budgets quickly to resolving a business issue. Good references helps on all points. This is particularly true for customizations, modifications, or new features developed during the contract term. 2- Pay attention to how the contract can be terminated. Vendors want to lock customers in for a more extended period, while customers want to be able to exit if things do not go as planned. Balancing these opposing interests is essential, particularly regarding the triggers and consequences of a termination. 3- You should be comfortable with your SLAs and know you can provide the desired service levels throughout the contract term and the consequences of possible failures.
