Negation can be handled in the following ways 1)Word Embedding- Although, word embedding captures local context, but word embedding does not capture negation word. But, word embedding can be used for finding patterns between antonyms(e.g. un-, in-, dis-) 2) Phrase structure/Dependency tree relations- Dependency tree identifies relationship between the words. Phrase structure tree uses word dependency for finding dependencies between the phrases. We can use -relationship between the words -relationship between the phrases for resolving negation. 3)Sequential models- Dependencies relationship can be extracted and stored in CONLL data for training purpose. Sequential models capture negation as a feature along with dependencies.

Contextual analysis is crucial for understanding the broader meaning of negation within surrounding text, while semantic role labeling helps assign semantic roles to sentence parts affected by negation, enhancing comprehension of its impact. Pragmatic analysis delves into the speaker's intent and the communicative purpose of negation. Advanced machine learning and deep learning models, especially those using transformer architectures like BERT and GPT, are adept at capturing nuanced language patterns, including the subtle ways negation can be used.

Using this OOTB limits you to contexts where the purpose of detection is to evaluate relationships between sentences. One approach would be to fine-tune your own roberta-large model on an NLI dataset, keeping some of the actual encoder layers (not classification head) unfrozen. Then you could remove the classification head and use the output embeddings as features in your downstream task However, I haven't tried that yet.
