In order to prepare for CBI questions, it is important to practice the STAR technique with examples of challenging or difficult situations from past roles, projects, or studies. Common CBI questions can be used as prompts, such as asking about a time when you had to deal with a difficult customer or stakeholder, work under pressure to meet a tight deadline, solve a complex or technical problem, handle a conflict or disagreement with a colleague or manager, or make a difficult or ethical decision. To add more depth and value to your answers, you can also use the CARL technique. CARL stands for Context, Action, Result and Learning. When using this technique you should explain the context of the situation, why you chose the actions that you took and why the result was significant or valuable. You should also discuss what you learned from the situation and how you applied your learning to other situations. Additionally, you should share your learning with others.
