How do you find reputable photography resources?

When you are looking with dedication reputable photography sources, you become a reputable photography source.First educate yourself in the field of photography you are obsessed and committed . Yes you have to be obsessed, not only interested. Interested people will do what is convenient, committed people will do whatever it takes. Big difference.Focus and do it.

Ohh and don't forget to read a book or two ???? It might be a bit old school but books still have their value. I know for a fact that one book helped me to keep pushing when I had my doubts that I would ever be able to learn and understand photography, not to mention what all these bl...y buttons do on my camera.

Knowing your niche and specialty for sure can help you find the best source suitable for you. For example, if you are into product photography, then sources like Karl Taylor Education (now called Visual Education) or PHOTIGY, might be a good choice. If you are into portraits, then perhaps KelbyOne might be a good choice. If you don't know your niche yet and want to explore more, then websites like SkillShare might work with larger libraries, and of course, how could I not mention here LinkedIn Learning ?? Many of them offer some sort of free trial or post some tutorials on YouTube, so it could be a good way to check if their style of teaching will work for you.

Photography is a way of communication . it can be used as a tool to create a message through imagery . to make people take notice of what you have to say , without actually saying a word. By defining your style in communication of photography , you create and define a purpose .

Seek inspiration from admired photographers and join online communities for networking and feedback. Embrace continuous learning through courses, workshops, and staying updated with trends. Master your equipment and software like Lightroom or Photoshop. Above all, experiment creatively to develop a unique style. Your journey in photography should be a blend of education, practical experience, and personal exploration.

Check the reviews, talk with other people who have used it, and hear what their thoughts are. Don't rely on one source, though; something that didn't work for one person doesn't mean it wouldn't work for you.

I have been a professional photographer for over 15 years . It's important to consistently updating your style and techniques with this changing industry of image making . a great source of information for fashion photography is show studio. by nick night . I did his mastered photography course few years back. the course was a good way to learn more, however the take away of show studio is the cherry on the top , it is a valuable resource, with the latest fashion films, fashion shows, interviews and a stack of other information

Yes we are all different and that is what makes us special and unique, yes we have different ways of learning. I enjoy both researching books of past photographers that influence my concepts, as well as & prob much more of, drawing new ideas from the web. anything can set me off. watching a movie may spark and idea, the resources are literally limitless. its what make you tick, what resonates with your ideas. one of my techniques, is looking at a photo and working out how they created the lighting and the set up. it challenges my knowledge and helps me to stay visual to my needs , but of course there are many show me how's on instagram , that describe how they created what the did. some are very good some are rubbish

Talking with other people who used particular sources and hearing their opinions can help you make your decision. But as I mentioned above, don't rely on one source; though, something that didn't work for one person doesn't mean it wouldn't work for you. Gather as many opinions as you can and make your best educated guess. Yes, it's still sort of a guess, as you have to try it for yourself to see if it's something for you or not. Ohh... and if you have an abundance of time and money??, try them all. That way, you will be able to help others make their own decisions.??

I agree with Martin , multiple resources are key in finding what you want to achieve in our work and in the knowledge , Pinterest is always a good foundation for visual ref and of course instagram. but one also needs to learn how to create through the conceptual and production phases to get to a desired result. practise and creativity , are what makes you better than the da before .

If you are starting out , go and shadow a photographer preferably one whose work you enjoy, Go in with the ambition to learn, and do everything you can to gain knowledge . offer to set up lights , carry heavy items. the more you are around this energy of creating and organising the more knowable you will become. there is no substitute for on set experience. your path will clear its own way, try not copy things , but rather pull influences from your learnt knowledge.

As I mentioned above some resources offer free trials and some of them post tutorials on YouTube. This might be helpful in checking if their style of teaching will work for you. You know, this is not a "one tutor fits all" situation ?? Experimenting might be costly here, especially if free trials are short or not available. Committing to a year of subscription for something you are not sure of can be a bit daunting. So before you do that try a monthly subscription if offered. Yes, usually it's more expensive but in the long run can save some money and you won't be stuck with 12 months of unwonted subscription.

Once you find your perfect source or two, don't forget to practice. The actual knowledge comes from your own experience. Without practicing and experimenting, you would be just gathering dry facts, which may work in some other fields, but it doesn't work in photography. So practice, practice, practice, and then rinse and repeat.??

+1 on what @Marcin Roszkowski said about practice. Just because you watched a video, read an article, or was told about something doesn't necessarily mean you LEARNED or KNOW it (at least in a professional or work-related setting). One must be able to replicate the same thing preferably under several different conditions/situations/scenarios.

Remember to verify if your photographer belongs to a reputable photography organization such as the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), AMA, or ASMP.
