Light changes throughout the day. For an outdoor location, it will affect your production. To compensate, plan your shoot schedule according to the level of light you need for each setup and coordinate reset timing with the moving light. An indoor location can solve for this, but you'll likely still need artificial light — great lighting makes a world of difference. Even indoors, though, window light can affect your shot, though you can use this to your advantage if the natural light is particularly stunning! (Just know that it might not last long.) Sound is just as important. Avoid locations with nearby construction, flight paths, or loud traffic. Internal sounds like air conditioning or other machinery can also affect sound.

The fifth thing you need to ensure is the safety and security of the location. How safe is the location for your crew, cast, and equipment? How secure is the location from theft, vandalism, or interference? I will like to add that as a Producer you need to understand the culture of the people in the vicinity where you intend to shoot. Get to know how they react to the presence of security forces, their attitude towards filming, Nudity in the film (in case of religious people), are they receptive towards heavy trucks coming into their terrane, especially when they built the roads themselves and managing it (in rural villages). If you must film in Nigeria for instance you will have to take permissions from 3 key players so as to be safe. First, the Traditional leaders, second the state, third will be the Youths. All these are not expensive if you go through the right source.

How much notice do you need to give, and how much can you adapt?
