MPLS primarily provides CoS and not QoS which helps prioritize voice in a VoIP environment. This is critical with many organizations to reduce latency and jitter with voice packets. It also priorities and labels specific traffic for reduction in bandwidth consumption. Since MPLS is a private network, CoS happens at layer 2 prior to QoS at layer 3 which helps to mitigate packet loss and prevent latency issues.
