Start with benchmarking security features such as encryption, types of authentication mechanism, and role-based access control. Industry standards should be applied in line with the compliance - whether it could be ISO 27001, GDPR, or SOC 2. Scalability and performance under various loads might be analyzed if the distributed systems are concerned. Capabilities in an existing infrastructure and tools must be checked. Vendor support and reputation are very important analyze user reviews, case studies, and responsiveness to security vulnerabilities.
