In my experience plugins for WYSIWYG tools like wordpress, joomla, squarespace, etc., the plugins can quickly become forgotten and unsupported by the creators. When looking for an SEO plugin, or a security plugin, make sure to do some research about the developer - look at the date of release, check out all the patch notes, and do your due diligence to make sure that you are going to be installing a plugin that will be supported for a long period of time. You don't want to install a plugin, and put all the effort into customizing it for your website, just for it to go EOL within a few months.
