Values elicitation is the process of discovering and naming your client's values at different logical levels. To elicit values, you can ask open-ended questions, use metaphors, stories, or symbols, or observe your client's emotional responses. For example, you can inquire what is important to them about their environment, behavior, capability, belief, or identity. Additionally, you can ask what they value most in their life, work, relationships, health, etc. Furthermore, questions about what makes them happy, fulfilled, or satisfied and what they stand for or believe in can be useful. Lastly, you can ask how they know when they are living according to their values.
