It never hurts to ask a scout "Which merit badge was the greatest challenge" And why?" It is an opportunity for the board to hear the scout's challenges and how he/she overcame them or what was learned.

Stories are a powerful way to communicate a passion for scouting, lessons learned, leadership challenges, and what they love about scouting. The board needs to ask the right questions. For example, "Tell me about a troop camping in which you had a leadership challenge?" Situation Task Action Result STAR story
