One thing I do now is copy and paste a job description into an AI tool, like ChatGPT. I ask it to analyze and report to me what keywords stand out, what hard-functional skills are listed, and what soft-interpersonal skills are listed. From there, I have a list of keywords to use in my own materials - IF (and it's a very important IF) my actual experience reflects those keywords

Prior to writing your job application, conduct thorough research on the company and position. Explore the company's mission, culture, products, and competitors. Carefully review the job description to identify the essential skills and qualifications the employer seeks. Resume modifications can be very simple. Slight change to the branding statement at the top, change to the summary section, reordering or highlighting (boldface) certain accomplishment bullets in the body of your resume to better align with the job. You can hire a graphic designer or use tools such as Canva to make it visually better. Real example: Sales Manager attracted a European Sales Director role with a UVP. The employer offered him 4 times his current salary!

In order to stand out from the crowd, it is important to tailor your resume and cover letter for each and every position you apply to. For this, make sure to use your resume summary to highlight your most relevant skills and experience, your work experience section to list your accomplishments for each job and make sure to use keywords from the job description and provide quantifiable achievements, finally list your most relevant skills and proficiency levels in your skills section. In your cover letter, you can also highlight your most relevant skills and experience by providing specific examples and quantifiable results of your accomplishments in previous roles.

Craft your resume and cover letter to highlight skills and accomplishments that directly relate to the job you're seeking. Incorporate keywords and phrases from the job description to underscore your relevant skills and experiences. Offer specific examples and measurable results to illustrate your contributions. My advice is to customize only headline, career summary and skills, by focusing on most relevant to the role you apply for. The rest stays the same.

I believe that the top 1/3 of your resume should be the only thing that needs tweaking. And within that top 1/3 only 3 areas need to be included: headline (reflecting title you are applying for), about (reflecting some of the things they are looking for), and skills (reorder or add, remove keywords they are looking for) 80-90+% of your resume stays the same. Interesting perspectives. I have been applying to 7-10 jobs a day. Every application has a different resume high-lighting the relevant experience. I don't always send cover letters, so a bit difficult to explain to the hiring team my fit. Most of my applications are over LinkedIn so I connect with the recruiter (listed on LinkedIn) and push my candidacy. Almost always I don't get a response. Also, many of my applications are to same companies, but different positions, so it's quite possible my cover letters could look similar......
