The first step to creating a personal brand is to know your niche. What is the specific problem, challenge, or goal that you help your audience solve, overcome, or achieve? Who are your ideal clients, customers, or fans? What are their needs, desires, pain points, and aspirations? How can you position yourself as the expert, authority, or leader in your field? Knowing your niche will help you craft a clear and compelling message that resonates with your target market.
-
It took me awhile to define and craft my niche around my brand. We all want to help people. We all have strategies that build wealth. We all have an idea worth spreading. With that, there is a piece of pie that ONLY you can reach that needs your energy, your story, your way, and your perspective. Ask yourself what problem you are going to solve and then add your uniqueness to the delivery.
-
Define your niche. Be a student of your niche. Know your niche broadly and deeply. Do your research and make sure that you are continuously learning. Be an expert by being an expert, not just giving yourself a lofty title. There are many ways to gain knowledge and be a credible expert: ? Client websites ? Trade organization websites ? Webinars ? Books ? Conferences ? University and community college courses ? Ongoing conversations with niche contacts and other industry leaders and experts Does your niche value a certain level of education or certification? If so, determine the expense, but most importantly the ROI (return on investment), of obtaining that level of education or certification and proceed accordingly.
The second step to creating a personal brand is to be authentic. Authenticity means being true to yourself, your values, your personality, and your style. It means showing your strengths, weaknesses, passions, and quirks. It means sharing your stories, experiences, and insights. It means being vulnerable, honest, and relatable. Authenticity will help you build trust, credibility, and rapport with your audience.
-
Authenticity is the lifeblood of any brand. Trying to be a five-minute expert on any subject at best keeps you on the surface. You need to find subject matter where you have the intellectual and emotional tools to dig beneath the surface to mine and polish the gems that have relevance, that are actionable.
-
To be authentic, you must know who you are and be comfortable with who you are and bring your authentic self to every interaction and motivational speech. Who are you? Do a self-assessment. Are you engaging, dynamic, relatable, humorous, cerebral, etc.? Record and evaluate yourself to make sure who you are comes across in your delivery.
The third step to creating a personal brand is to be consistent. Consistency means delivering on your promise, meeting your audience's expectations, and reinforcing your message. It means using the same tone, voice, and language across all your platforms, channels, and media. It means aligning your actions, words, and images with your brand identity. Consistency will help you create recognition, loyalty, and reputation for your brand.
-
Create a code of conduct with YOURSELF. Bring your best to every interaction with your clients, audience, niche. Be known, sought after, for your integrity, dependability, and professionalism. Be someone that others enjoy working with.
-
Consistency is key in most field. Mastering it makes you improve and grow your fanbase. I know this cause i used to be famous in some field but when i was on my lowest and i could not show up for about 3years i just found out that things changed and yes the World is changing in a rapid pace...so as a motivational speaker you have to be stable , consistency and keep up with your work...if you do not u will start afresh and its energy consuming sometimes when you think of it. If you have a fanbase make sure by any means necessary to show up for it until the death of you .
The fourth step to creating a personal brand is to be unique. Uniqueness means finding your edge, your angle, your twist, or your hook. It means differentiating yourself from your competitors, peers, or influencers. It means adding value, innovation, or creativity to your niche. It means showing what makes you special, remarkable, or memorable. Uniqueness will help you attract attention, interest, and curiosity for your brand.
-
In my experience bringing new flavor, something that people have never seen before get there attention all the time. So if people can not predict what you will deliver next every time whether is a seminar, book, articles or whatever means that your level of creation is high and you are really distinguishable from the competitors. Thus making your people to be eager to know what is it that you got next for them.
-
Few things in this world are unique. You should aim for a persona that reflects and reinforces all that matters to you and what will engage the audience. Joe Rogan's persona is very different from Simon Sinek's or Arianna Huffington, but I would argue that often they share similar perspectives.
-
How are you positioned versus others who target your same niche; others who have success with your niche. What sets you apart from them that is authentically you? Many times, your uniqueness is your authenticity. Your uniqueness could be the way you start or end your motivational speeches, your pitch, your tone, or your call to action. There are many traits and delivery mechanisms, big and small, that can separate you from others and help bolster your brand.
The fifth step to creating a personal brand is to be visible. Visibility means putting yourself out there, reaching out to your audience, and expanding your network. It means creating and sharing valuable content, engaging and interacting with your followers, and collaborating and partnering with other brands. It means leveraging social media, podcasts, blogs, videos, books, events, or any other platforms that suit your niche and style. Visibility will help you grow your audience, influence, and impact for your brand.
-
Less is more. I don't spray my content like a male cat. Almost all of my posts stay within the exclusive domain of LinkedIn. I am confident in the audience, I respect the opinions that are shared here.
-
Let your niche know that you are an expert, that you are authentic, consistent, and unique and an exceptional motivational speaker. Be proactive about using LinkedIn, other social media and traditional media to showcase your talent and expertise. Where does your niche consume most of their media? Find out and make sure you are present and visible in this media. Not all media is free. If there is media that is specific to your niche, find out the expense, but more importantly, the ROI, for opportunities in the media (advertisements, promotional articles) and proceed accordingly. Also, find out if there are opportunities to gain additional exposure by writing articles or being a contributor to publications that target your niche.
The sixth and final step to creating a personal brand is to be adaptable. Adaptable means being flexible, agile, and responsive to the changing needs, trends, and opportunities in your niche and market. It means learning new skills, tools, or strategies to improve your performance, delivery, or results. It means testing new ideas, formats, or approaches to keep your audience engaged, satisfied, or surprised. It means evolving and growing with your brand and your audience. Adaptable will help you stay relevant, competitive, and successful for your brand.
-
Focus on the present, but always be thinking and looking toward the future. What are the current needs of your niche? What are the future needs of your niche? Make sure you have the knowledge and expertise to meet the current as well as future needs. See changes and trends and prepare for them. Is your niche moving toward utilizing a different type of software or technology for engagements? If so, become well versed in the new software and technology. Question change and offer a better solution if you have one, but don’t lead yourself into extinction just because you’re comfortable with the “old” way of doing things.
-
Giving yourself grace and empathy is essential when creating your unique and memorable personal brand for your niche. Developing a strong personal brand is a journey that requires time, patience, and self-reflection. As you explore and refine your identity, it's natural to encounter challenges and make adjustments along the way. Practicing self-compassion helps you learn from experience, adapt to changes, and accept your true self. Be kind to yourself, and don't strive to be perfect. This will help you build a personal brand that resonates with your audience and reflects your values, passions, and strengths. Remember, a genuine and compelling personal brand is built on a foundation of empathy, self-awareness, and continuous growth.
